As a couple, Alfredo Primo and Nagore Toribio had a dream together. They wanted to create a sustainable place where time stopped and where they could reconnect with what matters most to them: family and nature. After two years of looking to no avail, they finally stumbled upon Sa Caseta, the perfect property in Mallorca in March 2019. They live in this abode but also rent it out.
We asked Alfredo and Nagore about their home-meets-rental property as well as their individual brands: Roots Mallorca, his sustainable furniture and remodeling business, and Ten Twelve Collection, her conscious fashion brand.

How would you describe Sa Caseta?
Alfredo Primo and Nagore Toribio
Sa Caseta is not a hotel, it is our home, one created for sharing and enjoying meeting people around the world with the necessity of enjoying discovering how simple luxury is. Sometimes we are in the main house while guests stay in the studio. Or sometimes we even are away while they enjoy the full property. But we always try to get to know each other, and share suggestions to make their experience really warm and to feel a bit part of our family.

What makes Sa Caseta different from other places to stay in Mallorca?
Alfredo Primo and Nagore Toribio
What makes this place unique is that once you put a foot on it, you feel at home and surrounded by a really comfortable and beautiful atmosphere.
The luxury at Sa Caseta means walking barefoot around the garden, picking a fruit directly off the tree, enjoying a siesta under the lime tree, smelling the mix of lavender and rosemary and understanding what it means to go back to your roots.

What’s the hardest part about working with your significant other?
Alfredo Primo and Nagore Toribio
It’s understanding that everyone has their one rhythm and timings. So the best is to accept that sometimes you need to stop and listen to your partner and accept that our speeds are different.

You also host events at Sa Caseta. What does this look like?
Alfredo Primo and Nagore Toribio
A friend suggested making a women’s circle at Sa Caseta, which has that peaceful and warm energy. I fell in love with that idea, so after that great experience, we felt that it would be great to open the doors a few days per month from autumn till spring to offer journeys with different experiences: yoga, private presentations, private concerts, even private dinners. We collaborate with artists, therapists or cooks that look for a really quiet space connected with nature and close to Palma to offer a unique experience.

What makes Sa Caseta eco-friendly?
Alfredo Primo and Nagore Toribio
We created this place with the belief that you could create a really charming and comfortable place to live in while trying to reduce at maximum your impact on the environment. That’s why we use just solar energy. All the products for cleaning are 100% natural chemical-free. We introduced water filters to reduce plastic consumption. In fact, we offer solid shampoo to our guests, so they can enjoy discovering how easy it is to reduce waste. We consume our own fruit production and create jams from the overproduction.
All the furniture is handmade, and we reused antique beams or restored old furniture. All the fabrics we use in the house are 100% natural, such as cotton and linen. The garden is made just with local plants to reduce the water consumption.
We offer a natural fiber shopping bag to invite our guests to use it and not bring plastic bags.

Sustainability isn’t just for where you live; you both have started brands committed to this cause. Alfredo, tell us more about the start of Roots Mallorca, your sustainable furniture and remodeling business.
Alfredo Primo
Eight years ago, when I was running my own boat restoration business, I felt really upset with the boat business atmosphere. I asked myself what I really wanted to do and where I wanted to invest all my creativity. And I felt that I needed to connect with nature and start from zero. I’m connected with natural material and transform something raw into objects that will be part of stories.
Ichtus Magazine
Alfredo, why are you passionate about sustainable furniture and eco-friendly remodeling?
Alfredo Primo
It’s the only way to continue a society. We need to wake up and understand that we could create a better place to live in if we use our creativity and sensibility to transform old beautiful wood pieces into fantastic timeless objects.

Nagore, you started your fashion brand Ten Twelve Collection in summer 2017. How do you incorporate ethical responsibility into your business?
Nagore Toribio
By creating limited edition collections with natural fabrics, where we just produce what we sell. Any garment that could not be sold because of any mistake during the production is transformed into a kid’s collection. We use 100% recycled material for our packaging, and we produce in factories where the water is 100% recycled and a 40% of the collection is made in Spain and Portugal to reduce carbon dioxide and support locals. And in India, we have small workshops where the handmade process is really valuable.

Nagore, on your website you write: “A conscious woman knows that we are more beautiful when we feel more beautiful.” Why is this idea important to you?
Nagore Toribio
We have worked for many years in big companies where the image of beauty of a woman was really far away from reality. Now what we look for is to highlight the individual power of each woman, understanding that there’s no size, no color, no age that could define where our beauty is. That’s why we carefully design in a sustainable way to highlight the femininity of any woman.
Everything in Ten Twelve is about attitude and energy. We highlight the power of other women we admire.
