Simplicity speaks volumes. And in this month’s edition of “The Mediterranean as seen by the Mediterraneans,” we were astounded by how simple life on the Mediterranean can be. These three photographers captured these quiet moments that make up our days. From mundane moments like drying laundry to cherished experiences like spending the day at sea, these artists capture Mediterranean life in its entirety.

Bea Reyes

I’m Bea, a journalist from Cádiz based in Barcelona, an unconditional lover of the Mediterranean Sea and a crazy foodie girl. Also, I’m a marketing manager in a company related to the regenerative medicine field, but I have an emotional writer’s heart. I’m always seeking new inspiration to create stories and keep them in my mind when I take pictures of important things that mean a lot to me.

My passion started when I was a child, always trying to catch everything with my camera. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the things I loved. I’m from the south of Spain, so you can understand how much I need the salty environment, the sand through my fingers, the smell of calm and the sound of the waves to be the happiest person in the world.

I’m always trying to travel as much as I can, and my previous travels are around the Amalfi Coast in Italy and Turkey to disconnect and get inspired. Warm colors and sunsets make me feel alive. That’s why I’m here to show you my favorite memories from my iPhone camera’s eyes to the world and my favorite spots to get your belly full of delicious food that can make you feel at home  .

My favorite Mediterranean places to eat:

Ristorante Nastro D’Oro in Massa Lubrense, Italy. I ate the best ñoquis a la sorrentina ever. Fresh pasta with the best views of Capri Island, cheap and nice service. You will love this place with all your heart.
Şehzade Cağ Kebap in Istanbul, Turkey. The best real kebab you will eat in your entire life.
El Magraner Boig in Barcelona, Spain. If you can’t go to Greece, the next best place to travel around Greece and eat its food is in Barcelona at this Greek restaurant. Are you ready for delicious Mediterranean tapas?
La Bodegueta de Cal Pep in Barcelona, Spain. Very typical and old little tapas bar with nice service.
Blat Picat in Formentera in Spain’s Balearic Islands. It’s the place to have a nice breakfast before you go swimming. They have the best avocado toast.
El Trópico in Barcelona, Spain. If you want to get brunch, you need to eat the best Eggs Benedicts in the city.

Karla Mrčela

My name is Karla Mrčela, and I am a student of Italian language and literature from Split, Croatia. Although I am not a photographer and have no ambition to become one, I have a great love for the Mediterranean — my home. That is why I try to capture its different parts of life and share them with all Mediterranean people and those who feel that way. I am inspired by simple things, from our fishermen and the sea to beautiful architecture and vegetation.
